Women's Tennis' Bianca Turati wins first career ITF 25k singles title

Rising senior has reached singles quarterfinals in each of her first three pro circuit tourneys this summer, including earning the title at the 25k event in Tarvisio, Italy.
TARVISIO, Italy — Rising University of Texas senior Bianca Turati claimed the singles title at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) pro circuit 25k tournament in Tarvisio, Italy on June 30. Turati earned her first career ITF 25k singles title and sixth career ITF singles championship.
Turati won a total of five matches in Tarvisio, including four victories against opponents who were among the Top-520 in the Women's Tennis Association's (WTA) world rankings. Her tournament run was highlighted by a straight-set victory (7-6 [8-6], 6-4) against WTA-ranked No. 252 Natalija Kostic (Serbia) in the Round of 16. Turati claimed the singles crown with a dominant 6-3, 6-1 win against WTA-ranked No. 518 Paula Cristina Goncalves (Brazil) in the championship match.
During Turati's first three ITF 25k events this summer, she has registered a 10-2 singles record while making three trips to the quarterfinals and a pair of semifinal appearances in addition to her singles title in Tarvisio. Turati, who is competing this week at the ITF 25k event in Torino (Italy), has risen to No. 494 in the latest WTA singles rankings (July 1).
